What do you think will be the socio-political impact of companies with remote employees operating across global borders?

These days it has become increasingly easy to work remotely in a decentralised way. Teams of people can work together as though they were in an office together, yet may be in fact in entirely different countries.

Operating in such a fashion extends business agility and the ability to acquire the necessary skills needed when they are needed. In addition, this way of operating also affords workers the ability to source work from a global pool of employment opportunities.

This does present an interesting problem however in the sense that workers can apply for the best-paid jobs in countries where the economy is strongest and make it difficult for businesses in not so affluent countries to compete.

So the question remains how can we make political, economic and social changes to cope with this?

The reemergence of unions.
