One of my favorite Star Trek Next Generation episodes is the one in which Data’s right to self-determination is upheld, based on the ruling that he is not the property of Star Fleet.
My main concern today is that we succeed in creating a machine intelligence that can be a tool for liberation of humans and humanity instead of a tool for repression.
Open source, modular, distributed machine intelligence sounds like the more likely path toward liberation. I would like to hear more about progress on this path. We need to sort out our priorities.
