SingularityNET Monthly Updates #11

Dear Singularitarians,

In our largest democratic exercise yet after the TGE, the SingulartiyNET community voted for the three candidates that are going to carry its voice to the heart of SingularityNET.

We’d like to congratulate David Orban, Penny Wong and Mathew Newman. We would like thank all participants who took part in a crucial first step towards the democratization of the SingularityNET platform.

Moving forward the council members will ensure that SingularityNET upholds its founding vision, values, and commitments all while fostering quality communication between the community and Foundation.

You can join the discussion and contact each of them via the SingularityNET forum:

X-Lab Shortlisted Projects

We were humbled to witness the amount of interest that was generated among AI developers globally following the announcement of the launch of the SingularityNET X-Lab. The inflow of project presentations and proposals we received reaffirmed a belief that contributed to us launching SingularityNET in the first place: there are too many great developers out there that are just yearning to be given an opportunity to learn and offer their AIs to the world.

Earlier in June, we announced the names of the 8 projects that were shortlisted for the SingularityNET X-Lab:

  1. HyperGAN: an open source generative adversarial framework. Once trained, these networks will be deployed for real-time inference on commodity hardware. Its applications range from classification through a generator, to recoloring an image and even next frame video prediction.

  2. Autonio: a non-profit decentralized organization that will provide crypto trading tools and infrastructure — NIO Suite.

  3. Sensor.Link: an idea to create an unbiased, unfalsifiable and independent security registry for sensor data and associated services that can be interrogated and cited as a reference in case of disputes between legal entities that use software and machine learning based systems to make critical decisions.

  4. OddBot: robotics for a sustainable future in agriculture. The ‘Weed Whacker’ robot that aims to autonomously detect and distinguish weeds from crops and remove weeds mechanically.

  5. Rejuve: accelerating longevity therapeutics by connecting individuals, medical clinics, biology labs and AIs. A for-profit offspring with its own proposed cryptographic token, Rejuve has been carefully incubated since early 2018 within the SingularityNET Foundation

  6. NuNet: a computing framework that provides globally distributed and optimized computing power and storage for decentralized networks by connecting the owners of data and computing resources with network processes needing these resources.

  7. Area 51 a powerful toolset for the exchange of information between people and AI-powered interactive virtual characters.

  8. DeepTruth: will deploy AI & blockchain based solutions to identify, categorize, and train AI models to detect false information and AI-generated content such as deepfakes, at scale.

It is encouraging to discover that the new generation of companies and nonprofits see the openness and distributed nature of the SingularityNET platform not as a limitation but as an auspicious addition to their own endeavour. It is our belief that the prosperity of these projects will, in fact, feedback into the ecosystem and contribute to the higher performance of the network as a whole.

Tech Updates

The precocious Crypto AI profit’s youtube channel continues to grow in reach. We’d like to acknowledge him for staying up-to-date on all of our Github commits and new Repos. We’re experimenting with having Crypto AI profit provide our monthly tech-updates here. Let us have your feedback!

Thought Leadership

While we are helping new projects and young teams achieve their goals, we are certainly not slowing down on our side:

Two articles from Dr. Goertzel stood out this month and received a lot of attention from the wider crypto and AI community. The first article came a few days before Facebook’s controversialannouncement of the Libra virtual currency.

Dr. Goertzel shared his thoughts on the impact that such a move would have on the crypto industry but also on societies in general. While it has the potential to provide a much-needed payment method for 1.7billion unbanked individuals around the world, also compromises on the crypto ethos introduced by Bitcoin and is likely to lock-in users in the Facebook ecosystem.

But we will leave you with the same note of optimism with which Ben concluded: “Now imagine what might happen if some other popular social media firm chose to adopt a decentralized competitor currency as its own leading internal currency. Then things would get awfully interesting”.

Robotic Analysis of Multiple Agents

The second article written by Dr. Goertzel early concerned itself with the creation of an AI Socio-Political Decision Support System. “We humans are not doing a tremendously great job of running our own world at present” affirmed Dr. Goertzel as he outlined the danger and promise of including AI algorithms at the center of our institutions’ decision-making process.

The Robotic Analysis of Multiple Agents (ROBAMA) is Ben’s contribution to that issue. ROBAMA denotes the specialization of an OpenCog AI system, embedded in SingularityNET for integration with supporting AI tools, to analyze the interactions of multiple intelligent agents such as humans involved in sociopolitical systems.

Understanding the User Behaviour of Digital Marketplaces

The SingularityNET AI team has also been working assiduously on building a resilient reputation system to support the autonomy of the platform and optimal interactions within the network.

The study we introduce in this article on the behaviour of digital marketplaces’ participants will help us develop a reputation algorithm that can produce more effective product recommendations.

This reputation algorithm will be useful in a wide variety of online marketplaces. Currently, we are testing the algorithm by performing a large-scale simulation which tries to mimic real-world marketplaces as much as possible.

Podcast

Recently, our CMO Arif Khan sat down with Larry Sanger, Co-Founder of Wikipedia, to discuss the first-ever blockchain based encyclopedia, Everipedia. Our write-up covers the most pertinent takeaways around the decentralization of knowledge.

In addition to interviewing Larry Sanger our CMO Arif Khan also sat on the other side of the mic this last month as a guest for the Momenta Partners of Zurich podcast.
