Today I came across a very interesting article about how deep learning helps researchers find out new things about the human brain. This is particularly interesting because deep artificial neural networks (which are by far the most popular example of deep learning) were, naturally, inspired by the neural networks in the human brain. So we are indeed coming full circle - biology inspires AI, which in turn inspires biology research.
